Vulcan B2 XM605 of No 50 Squadron at RAF Greenham Common in June 1979. 605 was participating in the flying display at the International Air Tattoo. 605 was delivered to No IX Squadron at Coningsby in December 1963 and was absorbed into the Coningsby Wing that moved to Cottesmore in November 1964. 605 was exchanged with the Waddington Wing in 1968 and was allocated to 101 Squadron in 1975 and 50 Squadron in May 1979. The above photograph taken the following month clearly shows where the old 101 markings were painted out. 605 was flown to Castle AFB, California in September 1981 where it remains.
