An unusual view of the in-flight refuelling probe on an Avro Vulcan B2. Though not fitted to the first B2s, the probe became a standard feature even though it was, for most of the aircraft's life, inoperative. Above and outboard of the probe attachment fairing are two probe lights and outboard of those are two of the of the aircraft's four Blue Saga PWR aerials. Although the General Dynamics TFR pod on the nose became standard on strike squadron aircraft in the mid-late 60s, some early aircraft in storage or used by the OCU never received them. Aircraft used by No 27 Squadron (MRR) were from these early examples or had had their TFRs removed.
